BMW Apple CarPlay compatibility is limited
because it requires the NBT Evo head unit
with ID5 or ID6 software (Profesional Navigation Option 8.8"). In other words, your BMW needs the latest on-board
computer and operating system. Even if you have a vehicle from 2016, 2015 or
2014 with recent technology, your vehicle may only have the ID4 software, or
the older head unit hardware, regular NBT.

If your BMW is equipped with a compatible head unit, we
can enable Apple CarPlay with our bespoke software solution. In some cases, you
might need to add a WiFi antenna if your car does not already have one, to
allow establishing a wireless connection between your iPhone and BMW head unit.

us. With the appropriate hardware fitted in your vehicle, Defined Coding,
unlike BMW, can do the BMW CarPlay activation even if you live
in a country which is not on the Apple CarPlay availability list.

Please find the details below to verify whether the version
of CarPlay compatible with your vehicle will be Fullscreen or Standard, to
check your firmware version please follow the instructions below. Go to
"Navigation" > Choose "Map" > Press Options button
> Select "Navigation settings" > Scroll down to "Position
and Version" > Select "Version Information”. If your firmware
starts with the letter N, O, P, Q, R, S, U, V,
W, X or any following letter. e.g. NBTevo_N
then your firmware is compatible.

& Digits of your VIN Number

If your vehicle is equipped with either the Wireless Charging option or Wi-Fi Hotspot then you will not require the Wi-Fi Antenna to be installed.

Please note if your vehicle does not have either of the above options, then you will require the Wi-Fi antenna to be fitted as a requirement for Apple CarPlay to function correctly. It is the buyers responsibility to ensure the above is checked, but if there is any doubts please feel free to reach out to us directly.
